Eye Care Institute Invests in New Lasik System

Officials at The Eye Care Institute say a new surgery laser will better serve clients as well as help hold down operating costs.

The Eye Care Institute, or Retina Associates PSC as it is known legally, is based on Story Avenue in Louisville.

Recently, officials there invested about $600,000 in a new model of Lasik eye-surgery equipment from Alcon Surgical. The new system is called the WaveLight Refractive Suite.

According to information from Alcon, the Eye Care Institute is only the seventh company in the world to install that model of laser, CEO Mark Prussian said in an interview.

The practice has been using the laser since February on about 50 to 60 clients per month, he said. The new equipment can be used to perform Lasik surgery much more quickly, said Dr. John Meyer, a Lasik and cornea surgeon at the practice. Continue Reading...
